Our original email asking for advisors had the following text (lightly modified).

Thought partnership - you’re [an expert relevant to our mission] and probably have ideas for how we can be faster, more ambitious, and more useful.

Promotion - we want to get more people like you to come to our events. We’d love to tap into your network. If we’re not at the point where you’re proud to promote us, we want to figure out how we get there with you.

Keeping the “soul” of the forum alive - [I (Caleb) am] not an expert in cybersecurity, and I am generally skeptical of events, but I think we’re doing something interesting and I want the core special thing about our events to survive. I think you could be a helpful anchor for us if you do choose to advise us.
